Teacher Assessment, including documentation of strengths and concerns related to the teaching practices of the new teacher, and a new teacher assessment of the level of assistance received from the mentor.

  • Assessment components gather evidence of the strengths and weaknesses of teaching practice by focusing on competencies or standards [e.g., rubrics, portfolios, mentor observations, and joint analysis of student work, etc.] (Dagenais, 1996; Lemke, 1994).
  • The new teacher assesses the level of assistance received as well (Dagenais, 1996; O'Connell, et al., 1999).
