Adjusting Working Conditions, for example: reducing student numbers, minimizing other assignments, providing classroom materials and supplies, and providing developmentally appropriate professional development activities.

Reduce the number of students in new teachers’ Classrooms and refrain from assigning them the most challenging students [e.g., no combination grades or having to change rooms throughout the day] (Arends & Regazio-DiGilio, 2000; Stansbury & Zimmerman, 2000).
Minimize new teachers’ extracurricular and committee assignments [e.g., no mandatory committee service] (Arends & Regazio-DiGilio, 2000).
Keep the classrooms stocked with textbooks, desks, materials and supplies (Stansbury & Zimmerman, 2000).
Provide developmentally appropriate professional development activities (Johnston, 1985).
