and calendar of events, and an introduction to the mentor
program and opportunity to meet mentors. |

- The equivalent of a full workweek or more

- Give new teachers an overview of the mission
of the school, curricular and school/district
philosophy (Stansbury
& Zimmerman, 2000), as related to the
AZ Academic Standards and AZ Professional Teaching
Standards (Arizona
State Department of Education, 2002).
- Point out important features of the curriculum
and professional development, and train new
teachers in these curricular features during
orientation workshops (Stansbury
& Zimmerman, 2000; Johnston, 1985).
- Documents of important state, district, and school
information (insurance, policies, calendar of
events) should be made available (e.g., Teacher
Handbook) (Stansbury
& Zimmerman, 2000).
- Introduction of mentor program and opportunity to meet the mentors (Fideler
& Haselkorn, 1999).
