In a collaborative learning environment, Jean Sutton presents the lesson "Archimedes' Spiral and Other Inventions" to a class of 6th grade math students at Madison Meadows School in Phoenix, Arizona. The students examine the similarities and differences of Archimedes' Spiral with spiral forms that are found in nature. They will be able to list facts about the life and inventions of Archimedes, explain why Archimedes' Spiral is so helpful, and list some of its uses in applications around the world today. Upon completing the lesson, students will be able to locate two web sites containing information on Archimedes and his discoveries.
